Cathy Cluck teaches history at Westlake High School in Texas, the US. Because of COVID-19, Cathy had to find a new way of teaching.

"I teach American history," she told a news reporter. "One day, I thought, ‘What if I go to some historical places?'" So in May, Cathy took a road trip called the Great American Road Trip. Each day, she met her students over the video chat and taught them online from a historical place. In this way, Cathy's students learnt a lot about American history.

The trip was fun. However, it was full of difficulties, too. For example, Cathy planned to go to Boston. When she was in New York, she got the news: the situation of COVID-19 was severe in Boston. People in other cities couldn't go into the city, so Cathy had to change the plan.

Cathy's road trip took 15 days. "This is not a normal school year," she said. "I was trying to make it interesting for my students." Cathy's students enjoyed the way of learning.

"I just love it." Julia Franco, one of Cathy's students said. "The distance learning gave me a different feeling about the historical places. It made me very excited."

Now Cathy and her students all come back to school. Since COVID-19 still goes on, they may return to distance teaching and learning.
