The 14-year-old diver Quan Hongchan set the women's 10-meter platform final alight on August 5 when she (得分) perfect 10s in three of her five dives to win the gold medal. She was China's(最小的) athlete in Tokyo Olympic Games.
She was (出生) in a small village in South China's Guangdong province. The (原因) why Quan chose to become an athlete is heartbreaking-she wanted to win prizes as early as possible to help her (严重地) ill mother. At the age of seven, Quan got into diving for the first time. When she was 11 years old, she was selected to the (国家的)team. The Olympic was her first world competition. And she also caught the(机会)with her own strength. Her coach said that Quan trained (百)of times a day and she went all out every time. She deserved(应得的) it.
