On Dec. 25, 2020, the cartoon film Soul was on in Chinese mainland theatres. Disney and Pixar gave fans a musical enjoyment as a gift.
Soul tells the story of middle school music teacher Joe Gardner, who has wanted nothing more than to be a musician. One day, he gets the chance after moving some jazz musicians at a club. But before he can get a big break, an accident takes his life, causing his soul(灵魂) to be sent to the Great Beyond. Joe succeeds in running to the Great Before—a fantastic place where new souls get their personalities (品性) and interests before they go to Earth. Here Gardner meets a soul, 22, who he tries to make believe the beauty of living.
"The film is about a soul who doesn't want to live meets another soul who doesn't want to die," said the director Peter Doctor. 98 percent people who have seen it praised the film highly.
With the themes of music dream and death, Soul has a close relationship with the 2017 Pixar film, Coco. The film is very funny and makes people think a lot.
Joe Gardner and 22's journey, the characters they meet and the discoveries they make along the way all lead to an important lesson about life: the people who achieve their dreams aren't as good as the ones whose lives are valuable.
