Many teens know how to use a phone to text and make calls. To make sure they are successful in life, it is important to teach teens phone etiquette (礼仪).
Teach your teens to be respectful (恭敬的). They should always use language that does not make the other speaker angry, and wait their turn to talk. These are all important habits of developing good communication on the phone as well as off.
If the teens are trying to call a business, or get information from an official (官方的) organization, they should use a more formal language. In this way, they could be taken seriously by people.
Show them that they can say, "Hello, this is . . . May I please speak to . . . ?" If the person is unavailable, they should always ask, "" or "When would be a good time to reach him/her?" Tell them to always state their name, number, and reason for calling when leaving a formal message. Also, teach your teens to thank the person they speak to before ending calls.
