In the women's free ski big air event, she won gold medal thanks to amazing jump. To complete the jump, she made four and a half rotations in the air and landed backward. It was a difficult jump that she had never done before. Her mother (tell) her to play it safe. " I didn't listen to her and gave it a go, not trying to beat anyone but to elevate(提升) (I) to the next level," said Gu.
Gu is known her strong will and hard work. She encourages teenagers (challenge) themselves through winter sports. "I love (feel) nervous and then overcoming it (brave), feeling that rush and that reward… that got me into skiing,"Gu told The New York Times. "I hope that I' m able to use this platform to inspire more young girls to take part in free skiing. That's always been my (big) goal since Day One."
