A surprise（惊喜）for Abe
Abe Lincoln was a boy in 1820. He wanted to go to school, but there was no school near his home. He was very sad.
Mrs. Lincoln, Abe's stepmother, loved the boy. She wanted to make Abe happy. One day, she went to the town, bought something and went back. She wanted to give Abe a surprise.
At dinner time the next day, Mrs. Lincoln put a cake on the table and said, “It is March 12th, Abe. It's your birthday. "They had a party. Everyone smiled（微笑）. Even Abe smiled, but only a little and not for long.
Then Mrs. Lincoln took out a present and put it in front of Abe. His eyes became very big when he got a book. This book is very old. He looked through it. Abe liked it very much.
He began to read the stories. A smile came to his face. He said "Thank you" to his mum. Mrs.
Lincoln answered, "Your smile makes me happy too."
