In early February, Zhu Yanjun 1 a silver medal in the yearly Chinese Poetry Competition (中国诗词大会) hosted by China Central Television (CCTV).
Zhu was born in a village in Jingning county, Gansu province. He only had a middle school 2 . But he loves poems. He read poems from the Tang Dynasty and poems written by Chairman Mao Zedong because he found them rhythmic (有韵律的) and easy to remember. Over the years, he 3 thousands of poems and recited more than 1,000 of them. Under his influence, Zhu's children became interested in poetry and 4 into universities in different cities. "5 I face any difficulty in my life, I think of Chairman Mao's quotation (语录), ‘Nothing in the world is difficult for one who sets his mind to it. '" He said.
