More than five years ago, when we first moved to London we found a black cat in our backyard.
He couldn't run fast because he just had three legs. The cat was scared. And he was also not interested in people. So when we wanted to feed him, he cried and ran away from us. However, It didn't stop us saving him.
A week later, when we saw the cat again, we left food out and hoped that he would eat some. But he didn't. The winter was coming. One day I saw him siting more quietly and when he turned around I saw there was something wrong with one of his eyes. He couldn't open his right eye. I knew he wouldn't let me give him some medical treatment. I caught him the next day and took him to a vet (兽医). When the vet said that he had to take out his right eye, I was sad and paid lots of money for his medical treatment (治疗).
Since it was winter, I kept the cat in a bathroom where he lived for 3 months. Every time I entered the bathroom, he tried to climb the walls to get away from me. But I never stopped showing him how life could be as an indoor cat. I played music every day and I told him my life story over and over again, until one day in spring he was not afraid of me any more and came out from the corner towards me and rubbed (摩擦) his big head on my leg At that time, he became a member of our family.
I always tell my children, "Love, patience (耐心) and kindness can change both a man and an animal. "
