As teens today become more connected with social media, they are also becoming addicted(上了瘾的). Social media platform TikTok(抖音), the app has it all. With its continuous scrolling(滚动), music and joy never stops. You could never call TikTok dull.
Some researchers wondered what influence such a fun app might have on teens. A research team interviewed 31 teens between the ages of 13 and 18. Nearly all said they had at least one social media account(账户). The study team noted that more than 60% of the teens said they regularly used TikTok. "The main reason is that TikTok is really good at connecting teens with content that is interesting to them, and that they can enjoy with their friends," one researchers said.
At the same time, some teens were uncomfortable with the addictive nature of the app."When I do use it," one teenager explained,"I go on it for hours at a time without realizing it because I'll just keep scrolling and I'm like‘OK, this is the last one' ."
In addition, some teens said that the app's videos of many seemingly perfect faces and perfect lives could hurt their self﹣respect. "I see someone's really nice house, or someone's really cute dog, "said another teenager.
So how can teenagers avoid those bad influences? They can control their addictive habits by reducing their screen time. Choose a certain time as their "social media time". They can also put their phones down for a few minutes and enjoy the real world. Take a walk, meet up with friends, and choose to make it a phone﹣less adventure. It may be difficult, but teenagers can do it.
