On a busy morning at round 8:30, an old gentleman in his 80s came to the hospital. I heard him saying to a 1 that he was in a hurry for an appointment (约定) at 9:30.
The nurse had him 2 a seat in the waiting room, telling him it would be at least 40 minutes 3 the doctor would be able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch 4 from time to time and decided, since I was not 5 - my patient didn't show up at the right hour, I would check his wound (伤口) first. While 6 his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment.
The gentleman said 7 and told me that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his 8 . He told me that she had been there for some time and 9 had serious illness. I asked if she would be worried if he was a bit 10 . He answered that she no longer knew who he was, and she had not 11 him for five years already. I was surprised, and asked him, "And you still go every 12 , even though she doesn't know who you are?"
He smiled and said, "She doesn't know me, 13 I know who she is. " I had to hold back tears as he left.
Now I realize that in 14 , true love is acceptance of all that is. The happiest husband and wife needn't have the best of everything. They just 15 the best of everything they have. Life isn't about how to live through the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
