Trees are important to us. They provide us with food, wood and oxygen we breathe. What else?Stories!
American couple(夫妇) Diane Cook and Len Jenshel can't agree more. The couple are two famous photographers. They spent over two years traveling around the world to take pictures of different trees for their book "Wise Trees".
They said they got the idea of the book in 2012. When they were photographing cherry blossoms(樱花) in Japan, Cook got a call that her father was dying in the US. They watched nice flowers float down in the wind and started thinking about the wisdom(智慧) that they got from trees.
"Wise Trees" shows readers pictures of 59 unusual trees from 12 countries. Most of the trees are among the world's most beautiful, oldest and biggest trees. Take the Montezuma cypress(墨杉) as an example. It's said to be the widest and oldest trees of its kind. The local government and people are proud of the tree and look after it well. Many Mexican children often go on school field trips to admire the tree, too.
"Trees can live without us, but we can't live without them, "said the couple. "They really play a very important part in our life. "
