Amy was a pupil in Grade Three. She, was often teased(奚落)at school because she had cerebral palsy(脑瘫). That always made her feel lonely.
One evening, knowing that things were not going well at school,Amy's mother wanted to cheer her up. "There's a Christmas wish competition at the local radio station, " she said. "Write a letter to Santa Claus and you might win a prize. Why not have a try?"Amy's eyes shone bright.
At the radio station, letters poured in for the Christmas wish competition. Lee Tobin, the manager, read Amy s letter carefully.
Dear Santa Claus,
My name is Amy. I am nine years old. l have a problem at school. Can you help me, Santa? Kids laugh ai me because of the way I walk and run and talk. I hate cerebral palsy. And my Christmas wish is one day without teasing.
Love, Amy
Lee's heart hurt when he read the letter. So he called up the local newspaper. He thought it would be good for the whole city to hear about this special little girl and her unusual Christmas wish. Soon people knew Amy's story by reading newspapers. Every day Any got letters filled with holiday greetings and words of encouragement. Teachers and students talked together about how teasing can make others feel. Now Amy is active and outgoing he cause nobody teases her anymore. By luring to make such a simple wish,Amy got what she wanted. And her story tells us that we should face our problems bravely and solve them.
