I spent this year's Spring Festival with one of my dear Chinese friends. He lives in a small town in Jilin Province. exciting the experience was!
After I arrived at the town, my friend showed me it. I also helped my friend's family clean their whole house and do some (shop). We bought lots of delicious food.
On the Chinese New Year's Eve, I enjoyed a big meal with my (friend) family. We watched a special show TV. As I couldn't understand Chinese well, the time seemed to pass very slowly. When midnight came, everyone in the house shouted (happy).
Every morning in the following days I woke up to the sounds of firecrackers as (early)as 5 a. m.-My friend (tell) me that people were chasing off evil spirits(驱邪). We happened (see) a lion dance on the street. Every busıness owner was happy if the"lions"stopped by their shop, that usually means good luck will come.
Before I left, my friend's parents gave me a red envelope with some money in it. The father said it was to bring me good luck and wish me a happy new year.
