When I walked into Ron Cruz's home with my guitar, "I'm here to try out for the band," I said. Ron was playing the bass guitar (低音吉他).
"We will have a competition (比赛) in five days. I wonder whether you can play Under the Moon," Ron said. "I began to know that song when I was nine," I answered. Then we began to play it. They sounded pretty good together and the bass mixed well with my guitar. "Here's the song list for the competition. Please read it carefully. We'd better practice the songs, so you can get used to playing with us," said Ron. The songs were familiar (熟悉的) to me. I thought it wasn't necessary to practice them.
Four days later, the big day came. There were more people than I had expected (预料). I stepped up to the stage (舞台). Suddenly I felt a little nervous (害怕的). I didn't know how to play it.
At that time, something wonderful happened. I heard the beautiful music from Ron's bass. Ron kept playing as if it was all part of the show until I finally relaxed. Ron saved me.
After the experience, I know that good preparation is the key to success.
