Different countries and people celebrate the New Year at different times and in many different ways. New Year's Day means a fresh start for all. People do special things to mark the New Year. These things are called traditions.
About Chinese New Year
In China, the date of the New Year depends on the moon so it is different every year.It is usually in January or February. People also call it Spring Festival. In Chinese culture, each year is named after an animal. There are twelve different animals. 2024 is the Year of the Dragon.
The New Year is a time to get together with friends and family. People clean last
year's bad luck out of their house and paste couplets. People
make dumplings and tangyuan, too. Parents give kids red packets.

Spain-In Spain, some people eat one grape each time the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve. Eating all twelve grapes can bring you good luck.
Denmark-In Denmark, some people smash plates against the doors of their friends to bring them good luck.
Greece-In Greece, people make a special cake with a coin in it. If you get the coin, you will have luck in the coming year.
