The Dead Sea is the deepest salt lake in the world. It's 1,240 feet deep. The total salinity content （含盐量） is 33.7%. Because of its high salinity content, fish and plants cannot live at all. That's why the lake got its name. The Dead Sea is eight times saltier than other oceans and it is 67 kilometres long and 18 kilometres wide.

The place is famous for its therapeutic qualities. People say bathing in the sea water is quite good for health.
