Winter Olympics and China
The first Winter Olympics were held in Paris in 1924.
In 1980,Chinese athletes took part for the first time in the Winter Olympics.At the 1992 Winter Olympics,Chinese athletes won medals for the first time.Ye Qiaobo won two silver medals.At the same Olympics,Li Yan won a silver medal in the short track speed skating race.The United States held the 19th Winter Olympics in 2002.Chinese athlete Yang Yang won a gold medal.This was the first gold medal won in Winter Games in Chinese history.In the 2014 Winter Olympics,China won three gold medals,four silver medals,and two bronze medals.
The 24th Olympic Winter Games were held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou in 2022.Beijing became the first city in the world to have hosted both the summer and winter editions of the Olympic Games.Chinese athletes won nine gold medals.
