My name is Jennifer. When I was ten years old, our school's dress code (着装要求) allowed girls to wear skirts only. To be honest, I don't like wearing them.
After oversleeping on a Monday morning, I put on my skirt and rushed to school. I was ten minutes late for class. As soon as I arrived at my desk and sat down, I suddenly realized that something didn't feel right under my skirt. So I quickly lifted up one corner of my skirt and found a surprising fact. I had forgotten to take off my pajama shorts (睡衣短裤) that morning!
I was nervous. I crossed my fingers as I secretly prayed (祈祷) that none of my classmates would notice. Thankfully, I made it through four difficult hours. No one noticed my pajama shorts. I counted the minutes until lunchtime, because students were able to go home to eat. I rushed to my home and told my mother the story. She laughed for such a long time.
“It's not funny!” I said as I entered my room to take off my pajama shorts. I heard my mother continue to laugh as she prepared my lunch. I felt so embarrassed.
“That was such a great laugh, and so unexpected!” said my mother many years later. This story has become one of my favorites to tell at dinner parties.
