Monica is a professional doctor at Brigham and Women's Hospital.Growing up in Wyoming，she was well aware of the lack of health care resources in countrysides.Access to in-depth health care for cancer （癌症） patients is hard to get.She's worked throughout her life to change that. 

In Wyoming，there's a great distance to travel between where people live and where they can find a cancer doctor. "If you need treatments and they have to be done every day，and if it's 120 miles from where you live，it is very hard to receive the kind of care you need." 

And now Monica serves as the president of the Coalition （联盟） of Cancer Cooperative Groups （CCCG）— an international network of individuals who work to improve the quality of life and survival of cancer patients by taking part in cancer clinical trials more. 

She said， "One of the important things is that we're trying to make sure cancer clinical trials can reach every single patient who needs them in my own state." The coalition set up sites in northern and southern Wyoming that are able to run clinical trials.Before those trials，patients would usually go to Denver or Salt Lake City — a three-to-seven-hour drive. 

Monica's efforts to increase access to the health care needs of her patients also include helping to develop new policies that will allow patients to take part in more clinical trials，and linking them with a regional doctor who can get them the access to the care they need. 

Besides the clinical trials，Monica said that technology's progress like better cell phone and internet service in the mountains of Wyoming，as well as social media，has helped local people stay in touch with medical professionals despite their distance.She will continue to support those changes. 

"I still consider myself part of Wyoming and I am very devoted to making sure that patients can get access to health care."

The popularity of Chinese-owned video-sharing service TikTok（抖音）continues to grow among young people in the United States. In 2019， experts say the service more than doubled its American user base to 37 million. TikTok is especially popular with teens and young adults. 

The service lets users create and share their short videos that they think interesting and useful. Many of them are under 15 seconds. The TikTok app offers a wide choice of sounds, brief parts of songs and special effects tools to help create a video. Some TikTok-based memes（表情包）are very popular. Videos often include popular songs from well-known artists and TikTok has even helped launch the careers of new music stars. 

TikTok is considered a competitor to the video-sharing app Snapchat, as well as Facebook's Instagram service. Snapchat and Instagram also mainly interest young users with a wide mix of photos and videos centered largely on fashion, pop culture and humor. 

Last year, TikTok was the second-most downloaded app from Apple and Google stores. Only WhatsApp was downloaded more. Research company Sensor Tower guesses people have downloaded the TikTok app 1.65 billion times. 

TikTok has been used by many major companies to reach young people who use little or no traditional media. One of those companies is American-based e. l. f. Cosmetics（化妆品）. The makeup company's chief marketer, Kory Marchisotto, said that TikTok is "where the Gen Z party is". Gen Z is a name used to call the generation born between the late 1990s and the early 2000s."That's where they're all hanging out," Marchisotto said. 

Companies appearing on TikTok can make money through advertising. Often,the companies create user "challenges" as part of their advertisement campaigns. TikTok users created 3 million videos that received more than 4 billion view.

People use parts of animals for everything from hats to handbags,from jewelry to ashtrays and to make powders that supposedly improve a person's life.Deciding that a species is endangered and protecting it by law are not always enough.People who kill wildlife illegally rarely get caught. 

During the late 1980s,saving elephants became a popular cause.Wildlife protection groups made sure everyone saw pictures or films of elephants with their faces cut off for their ivory.These groups also proved that certain populations of elephants were decreasing.As a result,most people stopped buying objects made of ivory.Laws against poaching（偷猎） were made stronger.Many countries made importing ivory illegal.Killing elephants for their Ivory became more risky and less profitable. 

However,concern for certain species will become weak after a while.In the late 1970s,people protested against the killing of seal babies.Everyone was shocked to see young seals being killed in their icy habitat.The cruel activity stopped.But ten years later,the number of seal babies killed was higher than ever. 

Other animal protection movements have come and gone,such as saving the whales and protecting dolphins.The whale population appears to have increased for now.And the laws are finally changed in America to protect the dolphins that swim with tuna fish in parts of the Pacific Ocean. 

In the years to come,people's attention will probably turn to some other endangered species.Plenty of them urgently need attention.
