ONLINE REVIEW:

The Lucky Inn★★★★               Lucky to have stayed at the Lucky Inn

By Amy                             September 2, 2021

I wish I could live there! I went there on a ladies - only trip in July, and we were treated like queens. Mario at the front desk was fantastic. He even upgraded(升级) our room because he knew we were all tired morns who hardly ever get to have a trip like this. We also went to the spa. And I think I ate at least 30 of those amazing cookies that were always available.

RESPONSE (回复):

Thank you for your review! It means so much to us when we can meet our guests' expectations. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and that Mario was able to help you. I'll pass on your praise to him. We hope you'll return to stay with us whenever you are in the area.

And let us know when you're coming so we can make more cookies for you!

CIMON 2 is a computer assistant (助手). It was sent to the International Space Station (ISS) on December 5th, 2019. It was designed to work there for three years to help astronauts. Actually, the International Space Station is a science lab in space. Usually astronauts stay in the ISS for five or six months. Can you imagine how boring it is to live in a small space with just five other people for six months?

So CIMON was created with two jobs in mind. One is helping astronauts with tasks. The other is trying to be "someone" astronauts can talk to. It is a robot with a face which was created by the European airplane company, Airbus. It can move where it needs to go.

Helping astronauts is easy for CIMON—it can see, hear, understand, and speak. Its "mouth" is a loudspeaker that can be used to talk or play music. The brain behind CIMON was provided by IBM. CIMON can understand not just what people say, but what they mean. CIMON can answer the astronauts, or use its screen to show pictures or documents. CIMON has several cameras, which can take pictures and videos to help astronauts keep records of experiments.

The more difficult part of CIMON's job is being acompanionfor the astronauts. The first CIMON could understand what people were saying and mastered more than 1,000 sentences. In one video, CIMON seemed to become confused(困惑) as Mr. Gerst spoke with another astronaut.

CIMON 2 has been improved so that it can find out how people are feeling. The goal for CIMON is to be a calm, trusted friend that astronauts can talk to when they don't want to talk with others.

Bridges are built over roads, rivers, or railways. They appeared a long time ago. Back then, they were built with stones, wood, iron and so on. Some were very simple, like a footbridge made out of a big tree. But today, bridges are bigger, stronger, and more modern. This is because we have better technology today.

Bridges are a mix of maths, physics and architecture(建筑学). They are finished by skilled engineers and they take years to build.

Bridges must be strong enough to support not only their own weight, but also the weight of the people and cars. They must last a long time and be built in a way that protects them from earthquakes, strong winds and freezing. Now let's see two main types of bridge.

Arch Bridges(拱形桥) were invented a long time ago by the Romans. They were built out of stone and in the shape of arches. Suspension bridges (悬索桥)are more modern, with the first ones being built in the early 19th century.

The oldest bridge in the world is the Zhaozhou Bridge in China. It's an arch bridge made out of stone that was built in 605A. D. But if you're looking for one of the most beautiful and famous bridges, it would be the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. It's a suspension bridge built in 1937. It has a length of 2.78 kilometres. If you think that's long, you should see the Danyang-kunshan Grand Bridge in China. It's over 164.85 kilometres long! It's the world's longest bridge.
