In recent years, a number of Chinese creations have been popular around the world. Among them, four creations are the most well-known. They are known as the "four new great inventions" of modern China.

I'm Nancy. Do you remember the name of your kindergarten（幼儿园）teacher？I do. Her name was Mrs. White. And I remember I thought she must be a relation of Snow White, because she had the same bright blue eyes, short dark hair and fair skin as her.

I don't remember much about what we learned in her class, but my mother once told me that we used to write a lot. And I would bring back what I wrote and she would look at it and see there were so many mistakes. But no red corrections, and always a star. Sometimes even a Good, which would make me fly with happiness. So one day when my mother went to meet Mrs. White for one of those parent-teacher meetings, she asked her why she never corrected my mistakes in the right spellings of words or pointed out grammatical mistakes.

"The children are just beginning to get excited about using words and forming sentences. I don't want my students to lose that enthusiasm（热情）because of red ink. Spelling and grammar can wait, the wonder of words won't. . . "Mrs. White said.

Later I knew that if Mrs White had used her red pen often, I probably wouldn't be telling you about this now. I look back now and think she must have been a rather unusual teacher to use as less red pen as possible.

I used to misspell"beautiful"a lot, and could never remember that the"e"goes before the"a". It made my teacher in high school angry. She asked me to use"pretty"when I was writing. I didn't listen to her. To my eyes, "pretty"is easier to spell, but it doesn't hold as much as we mean sometimes.

And thanks to Mrs. White, I never worried about writing what I meant even if I couldn't quite spell it out, because life isn't"pretty". It's "beautiful".

It's hard to turn down junk food. However, eating too much is bad for your body, especially if you're between the ages of 10 and 19. "Junk food shapes teenage brains in ways that make their ability to think, learn and remember weaker. It can also make it harder to control bad behaviors. It may even up a teen's risk of mental（精神上的）problems. "said Amy Reichelt, a scientist at Western University, Canada.

Reichelt and two other researchers reviewed more than 100 studies about how poor food choices can make a big difference to teenage brains. They found teenagers are more sensitive（敏感的）than any other age group to foods with a lot of fat and sugar, as their brains are not yet fully formed.

Teenage brains are still developing the ability to notice risks and control actions. The prefrontal cortex（前额皮质）is the part of the brain tells us we shouldn't eat chips all the time and helps us control ourselves. However, this part doesn't fully develop until we are in our early 20s. At the same time, teen brains get more excited from prizes. The parts of the brain that make us feel good when we do something happy—like eating tasty foods—are fully developed by the teen years.

As a result, the teen brain has two hits against it when it comes to refusing junk food. Reichelt and her team did an experiment using mice, whose brains develop much like our own. They discovered that "teenage" mice that had high-fat foods performed worse on memory tests than those eating normal foods.

So, what's the best way to say no to junk food？The answer is exercise. When we exercise, the brain becomes less sensitive to food, besides this, it also helps our brains grow and become better able to make wise decisions.

Popcorn has been connected with cinemas and films for as long as we can remember. But where did this connection begin and will it continue？ It had a delicious smell and this made many people buy it. Cinema owners wanted to protect the expensive floor that they had put in their cinemas. They were also worried-that, the sound of people eating snacks would get in the way of other people. So, salesmen set up popcorn-machines outside the cinemas.
