Fu Zai, a cute six-month-old corgi (柯基) became China's first corgi police dog. He first showed up during the opening day of a police camp in Weifang, Shandong province.

Because of his lovely smile and short legs, Fu Zai got quite a lot of fans on the Internet. More than his cute look, Fu Zai has excellent skills, and he is good at following orders and finding dangerous things. 

In the past, people might always think that short-legged dogs could not work as well as long-legged dogs and it was impossible for them to be police dogs. However, Fu Zai broke this kind of stereotype by becoming a wonderful reserve police dog (预备役警犬).

Fu Zai practices hard every morning and afternoon. The trainer says Fu Zai shows great talent. When he was only two months old, Fu Zai even performed much better than any other police dog in his group. After another four months' hard work, Fu Zai now can look for things under a car and easily get into small spaces with his short legs. 

"Police dogs are not only cute, but also well-trained. Trainers have put in a lot of time and work to train them," said Wang Yanan, head of the police dog base of the Weifang Public Security Bureau, as reported by ChinaDaily. 

Fu Zai is still young as a reserve police dog. Before he will officially (正式地) work as a police dog, he must get trained in more difficult and dangerous situations.

It was a cold, dry February afternoon in 2017. I was in my house with my children. Suddenly, a fire broke out in my autistic (患自闭症的) son's room. In a few minutes, the fire grew across the living room and then the whole house.

My children and I all ran away from the fire without physical hurt. However, we lost all our possessions (财产). We only have the clothes we're standing in. We didn't even have shoes on. I watched the fire go up through the roof (屋顶). We lost our home. We had nowhere to live.

Luckily, we had insurance (保险). But until we could get some money, we had to live with friends and use what other people gave us.

And the biggest difference was made to my children. My autistic son really had problems dealing with any changes. He couldn't even accept the fact of having to wear a new pair of shoes. But now we had to tell him that he would live in a new house and all his clothes and toys were lost in the fire. My youngest daughter had asthma (哮喘). Thankfully, the head teacher of her school came and brought her the medicine that she kept at school.

Thinking about what happened, I couldn't help but feel afraid. I felt lucky that my kids were all safe now. Everyone was so nice. People went out of their way to help, not just on the day the fire broke out, but also in the weeks afterwards. I really want to say thanks to every one of them. Their kindness is the thing that I would always keep in my mind.
