Zengzi, also called Zeng Shen, became a good student of Confucius(孔子) when he was 16.

Early one morning, Zengzi's wife left for the market. Her little son wanted to go with her. But he was too young and the market was too far.

Then she cheated her son, "I will be back soon. You stay at home and wait for me. If you do as I say, I will kill a pig and make a nice dish for you. "The child went back to the house happily.

When Zengzi's wife got back from the market, she showed no sign of killing a pig. So Zengzi himself prepared to do that, but his wife rushed to prevent him and said, "Don't do that. I just cheated the child. "

"Honesty is the most important thing, "Zengzi said "Children are like blank pieces of paper They understand nothing but they can learn from their parents' actions. Because you have cheated your son, he won't trust you anymore. In the future he will cheat others. "

Hearing her husband's words, Zengzi's wife regretted cheating the child. So she wanted to keep her word. She joined Zengzi in killing the pig, and cooked nice dishes for the child. While eating, the boy was happy and thankful to his parents.

One evening, when the child went to bed, he suddenly got up and ran outside. Zengzi asked him where he was going. The boy replied, "I promised I was going to return a toy to a friend today. But I forgot, so I am going to return it now. "The couple exchanged satisfied smiles, and waited until the boy came back.

 根据短文内容,判断句子正误

Most people have flown a kite or have seen one fly up and down in strong spring wind. But not so many people know that kites were first made in China thousands of years ago. The ancient Chinese made and flew kites even before they began to write.

Kite flying is an important part of Chinese traditional culture. It is believed that the origin of kite flying can be traced back to(追溯到) the Warring States period. The Chinese made kites to use in wars. They would fly these war kites in the dark. The kites were fixed so that they made strange sounds. Men who were at war with them would he ar these sounds and run away. They thought those strange sounds were made by gods in the sky. The ancient Chinese also flew kites to bring good luck and to make their crops(农作物) grow rich and tall.

Kites are made of bamboo, paper, silk and other materials. They come in different shapes and sizes, such as birds, butterflies, dragons and so on. Kite flying is a popular activity among people of all ages. It is a great way to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Kite flying is not only an activity, but also a form of art. People often decorate(装饰) their kites with colorful paints and patterns. Kite flying competitions are also held in many places. People compete to see who can fly their kites the highest and longest.

Kite flying is also a symbol of good luck. People often write wishes on their kites and fly them in the sky, hoping that their wishes will come true. In some places, people also fly kites to celebrate festivals and special occasions.

 阅读短文,把A~E五个句子填入文中空缺处,使短文内容完整。

The biggest secret about inventing is that anybody can do it!Perhaps this sounds crazy, but it's true.

Wrong idea number 1:

Well, inventing means creating something"new", but the idea could come from something that already exists(存在). The Wright brothers, for example, got the idea for building a"flying machine"from watching birds.

Wrong idea number 2:Inventors are born, not made.

There are a lot of factors(因素) that make innovation(创新) possible He was born with a special talent for music. But other factors were also important for his creativity. His father was a music teacher, and Mozart practiced for hours every day, from the time he was in kindergarten. Thomas Edison said that being an inventor was"99% hard work and 1% inspiration"! As one inventor said, "A failure is the right answer to the wrong question!"

Wrong idea number 3:Inventors are always old people.

Here are two examples of young inventors: Louis Braille went blind when he was a child. When he was 15, he invented a system of reading and writing for blind people that is still used in most countries today. As a young man, George Nissen was watching trapeze artists(空中飞人) in a show. He watched how they fell into the net and then bounced(弹起) back up again. This gave him an idea and he invented the trampoline(蹦床).

A. Take Mozart, for example.

B. An invention has to be something completely new.

C. Don't believe that you can't invent something when you are young.

D. Very successful creators don't give up when they get something wrong.

E. Maybe you have the wrong idea about inventing, so read on to discover the truth.

 根据短文内容,回答下列问题。

Most tourists don't go to Candeal, a small city in the east of Brazil. But if they're interested in music, they will go there.

Carlinhos Brown was born here in 1962. He arrived on the Brazilian pop scene in 1982 and in the 1990s he became widely known as the leader of the musical group Timbalada. There were more than 100 members in this group, and most of them were young kids from Candeal. They recorded eight albums(专辑)and toured many countries around the world.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Candeal was a very poor area, and Carlinhos wanted to do something for the kids. So he opened the Pracatum Music School. On a classroom wall he painted, "This is the school of my dreams", to encourage the students.

Hundreds of young people between five and twelve have learnt to play music there. They start by playing music on bottles and boxes. Then they go on to other instruments. Many of them have become very successful musicians.

The school has been training young musicians from the area since 1994——and it's been doing it for free. "My musical work started here as a student with Mr. Brown, "said Jair Rezende. "I lost both my parents as a boy and Carlinhos helped me a lot. He is like a second father to me. "

Jair is a teacher himself and he has been working at the music school for many years. "We have been helping kids to stay away from danger and to get good marks at school, " he said.

For some years now, the school has been working together with government programs, and now there is a big project for improving the neighborhood of Candeal. People believe the Pracatum Music School has magic and they love it.
