I was travelling by train one morning. Quietly reading, I found myself suddenly listening to the announcements (公告). When the trainman makes an announcement, it's often quite boring. But this one was1 . As I looked up from my paper, I2 others also listening. Not only that, they3 !

4  was so much attention being paid to this message?

As best I can remember, the trainman said, "Good morning. Ladies, Gentlemen and 5 . It's 7:35 a.m. and you'll be glad to know that we are right on time. What a lovely6 it is in Sydney today. The sun is shining, the temperature is about 21 degrees, birds are7 , and all's right with the world. Thanks for8 my train and I hope to see you again. Have a great day!"

Wow! Have you ever heard an announcement like that? I9 hadn't. As well as getting everyone smiling, there were quite a few people who started talking to one another about how good the10 was.

The minute I got off the train, I ran into the young trainman and started to thank him. He looked a bit11 at first. Continuously I said, "Well, I just wanted to thank you for your12 message on the way. It got people's attention and smile. Thank you so much for giving us such a good13 to the day."

That day I got two messages. The first is that people's happiness at work shows in what they do and say. Also, the story tells me what you can get from thanking people for14 they've done, especially when it's not expected. Can you imagine the conversation that trainman would have when he got home,"Guess what happened to 15 today—a passenger thanked me!"

①Do you often run outdoors to keep healthy? Do you know how running helps make the earth clean? Sometimes a creative mind really helps.

②Plogging, a new way to exercise, began in Sweden(瑞典). The name "plogging"comes from two words-the Swedish(瑞典的) word"plocka", which means "to pick up", and the word "jogging", which means "to run slowly".

③A Swedish man called Erik started plogging. He saw rubbish(垃圾)here and there when riding to work each day. He became worried about the dirty environment and stopped going to work by bike. Instead, he began to run to work and pick up the rubbish at the same time.To his joy, more and more people followed him and soon plogging became popular.

④Many people choose plogging because they think plogging is a good way to help clean up the earth. Sometimes rubbish is difficult to collect because it may be all around. But if the runners pick up the rubbish on the way, it is quite different. After all, many hands make light work. Another reason is that plogging burns more calories(卡路里). According to a research, plogging for 10 minutes burns 48 calories, while usual jogging for 10 minutes burns about 39 calories.

⑤Everyone on the earth should play a part in cleaning it up! It's time for us to take action together. So ready? Let's plog tomorrow!

Derek was always the last student to leave the band room. It was his favorite place at school. Since this was the last day of class, he stayed longer than usual. As he was about to leave, he felt a hand on his head: "Are you excited about Jazz Band Camp next week?" Mr. Boxwell asked. Derek was the only student at James Madison Middle School accepted into the famous camp.

"Yes, Mr. B," Derek said quietly. "What if I don' t play well?"

Mr. Boxwell smiled and said, "You' re the best saxophone player I've taught. You will surprise the people at camp with your talent. "

Derek looked down at his shoes. He wasn't sure how to tell Mr. Boxwell that he had never been to summer camp. What would the food be like? What if he got lost in the woods?

Mr. Boxwell knew what Derek was thinking. He looked at Derek's eyes and said, "Well, I did miss my mom's cooking, but I was surprised by how quickly I made friends with the other kids."

Hearing this, Derek laughed. He left the band room with his teacher happily.

A. At the same time, I' m really worried.

B. What if he didn't make any friends?

C. Is there anything else you are worried about?

D. He turned to see his band teacher, Mr. Boxwell, standing behind him.

E. My first summer camp experience was a music camp when I was your age.

F. When I was young, I always liked the camps and I often went there with my friends.
