An Adventure(冒险)of a Mouse

I am a little mouse and I live with my mum, brothers and sisters in the cave(山洞)all the time. So I took a bag and put things that I thought I'd need to have along the way. Such as a toothbrush, some clothes, and, of course, my lucky bottle cap(瓶盖).

My Uncle Louie had found the bottle cap on his travels long ago. He was running from a fierce(凶猛的)cat. That's when Uncle Louie found the cap was so “lucky". He used it to slide down(滑下)a hill. At the foot of the hill, rushing water(湍急的水流) began to carry him away. So he could take the boat through the water. I listened to Uncle Louie tell me the story many, many times. One day, he gave me the lucky cap in surprise.

With that, I said my goodbye to everyone. Then I left the cave that I lived in for so long. Outside the sun was shining(闪耀).Birds were singing high in the trees. All of a sudden my ears caught the sound of something unusual. The sky darkened like night. The wind blew, strongly. I quickly looked for cover. There was none. Then it hit me. My bottle cap! . I placed it over my head just before one of the ice balls fell onto the cap. Scared, but not hurt, I sat still for some time. Then I smiled. The lucky cap had saved the day and my life!

A. I have carried it with me since then.

B. I wanted to explore (探索)the outside world.

C. Luckily, he used the bottle cap as a boat.

D. I reached into my bag and pulled out my lucky cap.

E. The next thing I knew, ice stones began hitting the ground.

Lu Xun is one of the greatest Chinese writers of the 20th century. Besides his famous stories, he also wrote many influential articles (有影响力的文章) about the living conditions of Chinese people.

Born in 1881 to a wealthy family, Lu Xun had a happy childhood. In 1893, however, his grandfather, a senior government official, was put into prison for taking money.  From that time on, his family was no longer accepted by their relatives and friends. These early experiences greatly influenced his writing.

By the time Lu Xun arrived in Nanjing to study at university in 1899, he already believed that Chinese society had to change and become modern.  There he began writing articles for several Chinese student magazines. He showed a gift for writing and translating and he even wrote several books, although none was popular. He returned to China in 1909 because he was in need of money.

After working for several years as a teacher in Beijing, Lu Xun again returned to writing.

It was the first Chinese novel published using the everyday language that people spoke, which helped make it a great success. This, together with his novelThe True Story of Ah Q(1921), made Lu Xun a leading Chinese writer.

Although successful,  In 1927, he moved to Shanghai and gave up writing stories in order to devote himself to what he called "pen warfare". He only wrote articles which called on the people to fight against the government. For this, the government stopped him from publishing any more books.

Since his death in 1936, Lu Xun's importance and influence have grown. Today, many of his writings are included in school textbooks and his works are read by millions of people around the world.

A. In 1918, he wrote his famous short storyDiary of a Madman.

B. He was forced to write his articles using false names.

C. In 1902 he went to study in Japan.

D. At the same time, his father became seriously ill.

E. Lu Xun still worried greatly about China's future.

从方框中选出与下文中各段落相对应的标题。

A. How to get on well with others

B. How to greet(问候,打招呼)

C. When to arrive

D. How to get on with our parents

E. What to bring

⑴The first thing to remember is that when a friend invites you over, you need to arrive on time. If your friend tells you to come "around 3:00", that means you can turn up a little bit after 3:00. But usually it is a good idea to arrive at the right time.

⑵Often it is also nice to bring something to your friend's house. This could be a box of chocolate for you two to share, or maybe a movie that you can watch together. You can also bring some flowers. A little gift is a nice way to show your friend that you are excited to be at his house.

⑶When you visit your friend's house, you may also meet his parents. You should tell them who you are and they may tell you their names, and then they may tell you to call them by their first names. Another way to show respect is to call them Madam or Sir.

⑷As we all know, students should learn how to get on well with others. But in what ways? First of all, we should respect others. Everyone has their own way to do things, so we should understand each other. Besides, it is important for us to communicate with each other. What's more, we should be kind to others and offer necessary help to those who are in trouble.

⑸Everybody has his parents. But not everybody gets on well with his parents. Well, first, we should respect our parents because they bring us up and care for us all the time. Second, we are supposed to do some housework at home. We should help clean the room, cook meals and so on. Third, we should care for them, have a talk with them about their work.
